  1. Get on Your Bike:-)

TDM-2014 webPlymouth Stone is doing its’ bit for St Lukes Hospice this Sunday 14th September.  Our energetic boss Rob Martin and our equally energetic fabricator Tom Routely are cycling 35 miles across the rugged terrain of Dartmoor braving snowstorms, hail, flash floods and extreme heat! (only kidding about the weather) all for charity.  I think our boys deserve a big round of applause.  let’s hope they and all taking part in this fun but challenging event raise much needed funds and awareness for a charity that does so much to help people with cancer.

  2. Over the Moon!

Beautiful Luna Eco Silestone quartz worktops

Our clients from Plymouth really were over the moon with their new Silestone worktops in Eco Luna quartz.  The Eco range of Silestone  by Cosentino has been developed using 75% of recycled materials such as mirror, glass, porcelain, earthenware and vitrified ash.  These quartzstones embrace sustainability and are an ecological alternative to similar quartz surfaces.  Friendly to the environment in every way, even their manufacture complies with the high environmental standards demanded, proving you can be green with your worktops – or white! as is the case here.  The beautiful soft whites and creams of Luna Eco Silestone contrasts perfectly with the darker wood of the cabinets.  Our clients chose 20mm thickness over the traditional 30mm thickness for their worktops which gave the overall look a contemporary and sleek feel.  A perfect choice!

  3. “I am at home among trees”

Silver Cloud web_miniAs quoted in the Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien.  Another person at home among trees but only in the metaphorical sense! a very special client who chose this unusual Silver Forest granite for her spacious and stunning kitchen.  For nearly a year our client has been waiting to put her vision into reality and with our help and Torben of Future Kitchens in Truro she has almost finished her dream kitchen.

Silver Forest granite has beautiful waves of soft greys and touches of dusky pink.  The patterning is unique to each slab and so makes for a truly striking overall effect as you can see in this photo.

There are still some finishing touches to add to the kitchen and I’m hoping more photographs will be winging their way to us so watch this space……..

  4. A very satisfied client

    One happy customer!

Mr and Mrs G from Plymouth have used granite in all their kitchens over the years. They chose Arctic Cream granite for their current home.  This striking  Brazilian granite with pearlescent quartz and a creamy white base  has small black mica lines criss crossing its’ surface.  It really is a spectacular granite and perfect for the cabinets chosen by our clients.  In fact, they were so pleased with their new granite worktops they were moved to write to us and tell us!

  5. A new invention!

bunnyIt seems the hot weather is getting to everyone, man and beast.  Recently we were asked by a very caring animal lover if we had a spare piece of stone that she could use for her very fluffy rabbit Bonbon to sit on as he was finding the hot weather a bit too much!  So we offered this marble tile and as you can see from the photo Bonbon looks very happy and cool.  We’ve decided to name this new invention The Bunny Cooler – very original we thought.  Just goes to prove it’s not all about worktops for kitchens.

  6. Cool Sophistication

azul platino worktop 2Azul Platino a beautiful granite  from Spain is a definition of cool sophistication. A combination of Mediterranean sky tones, water reflections and metallic crystals.  From the most traditional kitchen to the most contemporary  this unusual stone always makes a statement. A perfect complement to both painted and natural wood this wonderfully versatile granite also looks great with stainless steel and chrome.  Always available and always consistent this lovely granite never fails to please.  A new consignment has recently arrived in our yard so come up and take a look, the kettle is always hot and a warm welcome awaits!

  7. Goooooaaaaalllllll !!

bianco antique granite 2014To celebrate this years world cup we welcome a very Brazilian addition to our yard.  Bianco Antique granite with its wonderful greys, whites and taupe colours will add a touch of class to any style of cabinet. A raspberry blush through the stone brings colour and life.  We have recently completed worktops for two very different kitchens in Bianco Antique granite and both clients are absolutely thrilled with the look.  Much prettier in the flesh, it is available to view now.  Do visit for a coffee and a chat and have a look at all the wonderful granites we have on offer.  I think we’ve definitely scored the wining goal with this one.

  8. Showtime!!

As mentioned in an earlier blog – Plymouth Stone will be at the Devon County Show from Thursday 22nd May until Saturday 24th May.  This means our showroom in Plymouth will be closed during the three days of the show.  It is still possible for you to visit the premises where the very helpful lady in the Martin and Sons office will be happy to take information and relay it to us.  We do hope you will get chance to visit our stand at the Exeter showground and see the many other attractions that this wonderful County show has to offer.

  9. Softly does it

033 resize Matt granite is becoming more popular as our clients are seeking alternatives to the more traditional polished worktops and this beautiful Steel Grey Satinato granite was the perfect choice for Mr and Mrs S of Plymouth and complements their beautifully crafted cabinets which were hand built and painted  by Windmill Kitchens of Dobwalls.  We were very flattered by their comments below.

We want to thank you both for your help, advice and great customer care.  You go that extra mile and we are grateful.

The granite you provided and installed (grey steel – soft touch) is absolutely wonderful in all aspects and gets many admiring comments.

Apart from looking good it is so practical and very tactile!

Satinato or Skintouch finishes are available on all granites, however its the ones with the larger pieces of quartz in where this finish comes into its’ own.  The natural pitting that is in all granites is enhanced with the brushing process to create a really unique look.
